Our story

The Rest of Nature was founded in 2025 by corporate responsibility practitioner Rosie Gaunt.

For the best part of a decade, Rosie has developed sustainability and social impact projects and strategies for global fashion businesses.

Within her work, she sees daily that the climate crisis is a crisis of communication. Complicated, contradictory, onerous, overwhelming… All without addressing the root cause of the climate crisis: our perceived separation from the rest of the nature.

This was the rootstock for The Rest of Nature CIC, an education and advocacy non-profit sowing seeds of personal, social and planetary wellbeing, by raising awareness, understanding and awe of our relationship with the rest of nature.

About Rosie

Rosie has lived and worked in the UK and Italy, developing ESG, DEI and philanthropy strategies for global multi-million and multi-billion dollar businesses.

Currently Senior Responsibility Manager at Manolo Blahnik, she joined the footwear brand in 2024 as their first sustainability hire.

Within her previous roles at YOOX NET-A-PORTER GROUP, working closely with CEO and Founder Federico Marchetti, she established and led The Modern Artisan, a partnership with HM The King’s charity The King’s Foundation. The programme brought together students from the UK and Italy to learn about sustainability in order to design and handcraft products. Through the project, the business piloted industry innovations like Digital Product Passports as early as 2019, and supported the launch of initiatives like The Great British Wool Revival, creating a traceable British wool supply chain. The storytelling around the Modern Artisan resulted in the largest media and social reach in the business' 20-year history, with the project being shot for British Vogue and appearing across print, digital and global news channels.

Rosie has been invited to speak at numerous industry sustainability summits and conferences, as well as Bocconi University, Milan Fashion Week, Vogue and Pre-COP27 events.

Rosie holds a degree in Classics and Italian from the University of Oxford, and stubbornly lives in the Oxfordshire countryside, maintaining the London commute is worth it to return to a home shared with so many other living beings, from bats to grass snakes.

In her spare time you'll find her muddy: walking with her dog, running or working on the allotment.

The Rest of Nature CIC has sprouted from a rich humus, with roots in Rosie’s experience in corporate sustainability, her education in languages and literature and her personal deep ecology (or spiritual ecology) practice, in addition to fields including nature connection research and science communication. Rosie recognises and rejoices in the act of constant co-creation, and she offers gratitude to the many traditions, cultures and teachers, both human and more-than-human, who have influenced and continue to influence the shaping of The Rest of Nature CIC.
